A holder, page turner, and making the font size HUGE are game changers for kindle accessibility. It’s a mercy on the wrists and eyes.
I'm too squeamish to track my book purchases in a year. I purchase a pile of thrift books because hunting for books that I really want to read has become its own hobby. I get a high every time I find one. I can't pick just one book as a favourite for the first quarter so here are a few...Flowers for Algernon, The Snow Child, And Then There Were None, Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead, The Salt Path and Daisy Jones and the Six.
I had to edit because I accidentally added a couple from this quarter.
🐣 Ready for reading over the Easter long Weekend.
At the moment I am reading the Losers series and I am enjoying it - but I would recommend checking the trigger warning.
As someone who is daunted by and actively avoids classics, it's nice to hear about the ones you are reading. I was intrigued by the "swashbuckling tale of pettiness" summary for The Count of Monte Cristo but maybe I shouldn't start a 1000+ page book as my first classic. 😅
My top 6 (was going to leave at five, but I can't be stopped!) in the first quarter of the year were The Lamb by Lucy Rose, My Good Bright Wolf by Sarah Moss, The Forest of a Thousand Eyes by Frances Hardinge, The Sundial by Shirley Jackson, Caesaria by Hanna Nordenhök and Carrion Crow by Heather Parry.
So glad you're happy with the progress you've made so far... especially the series, that's no joke! Shame you've not had a better time with what you've been reading (by the sounds of it), but I hope you have an upward enjoyment trajectory for future quarters.
I think my favourite book is still one of the first books I finished this year 'The Goblin Emperor', I honestly can't wait to reread it 💜🐣
Inkheart is sooooooo good! Loved that trilogy. You’re crushing!! 👏👏👏👏
I was wiggling when you revealed the two squares that you met your goal. Congratulations!! That’s big!!
🌱🪴💗 I'm shocked about the HMRC series! I read the first book and LOVED it, and have the second on my TBR, so looking forward to your thoughts on why you're dumping it! After a several YEARS reading slump I'm back with a vengeance and (figurative) balls deep into fantasy. Q1 highlights for me have been John Gwynn's Malice and Valour! Fan bloody tasctic! I have book 3 and 4 but have been holding them hostage until I passed a dull AF pharmacology exam - results are back (93% please and thank you!) so I cannot wait to dive into them! Also loved Uprooted and Shutter Island (one of your recs - thank you ❤). A big well done on your amazing progress!!!
I'm with you on finishing series. I'm awful at it. Starting on the other hand...
🌼🌿🌺 Also, A Drop of Corruption was an absolutely amazing read! I am loving that series. But now begins the wait for the next one. Sigh.
I need to update my bingo board too! I think you're doing great though Winn, as I'm sure my 60% is only at 10% right now 😳
I'm really struggling with reading books with my eyes, as I can't just sit still and read I have to be doing something else too. I have been listening to audio books a lot more, but some of my irl books aren't audio-d so they're just sitting there, judging me 🤨 < also, we need a better "judgy squint" emoji.
Love this format!
Love the new energy and also good on you for trying to heal your hair
Its a great day when i get to catch your newest video!
My reading highlight of the year was finishing the Queen's Thief serie by megan Whalen Turner, I loved the final book and this is quite rare for me, I am often disappointed by endings.
And I've read 25% of my purchase so far, probably because I only bought 12 books.
i've only had two five star reads this year and the first one was the boy i love by william hussey which had me ugly sobbing at several points. as for my bingo board...there's like one i'm almost complete on and we just won't talk about the others.
Seems like it’s been a while since your last video. Can’t wait to watch this after work in a few hours.
Loving new format.
🐇
I relate so hard to loving reading series but also hating when it ends. There are quite a few series on my shelf and I’ve just not picked up the next book because I don’t want it to be over 🥺😭🩷
dyscalculia book besties who love stats but *the numbers tho* 🤝
*gentle little head pats*
🐝🌷🌱 my favourite book for the first quarter is Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera
Maybe you should change Clear a Self to Clear Half a Shelf?
🪻🌺🌼🌷I’ve only read 7 books so far this month but they’re chunky. I can’t recommend because most are your suggestions. 😂
My issue is putting off finishing series because i dont want to say goodbye
You are absolutely ADORABLE!🎉
